After browsing the App Store, it appears that all of the Tumblr apps for the iPad are total garbage (no offense if you follow me and have developed one). I wonder why Tumblr hasn’t come out with an official app.
Tumbleroo seemed like the least terrible, but it’s 5 bucks and their UI/UX is…meh.
Am I missing one. Is there a Tumblr app that you suggest?
Seems like gold mine to develop a very slick one. If only I had the free time…
Apparently, in your Tumblr Preferences, you can set the editor to use Markdown. This single-handedly makes me want to switch all blogging to Tumblr.

I loved blogging with Jekyll, but I really want to be able to publish blog posts on my mobile devices. Also, free hosting ftw!
Now the fun part, the import…
Ok, so maybe this is stupid, reposting your own content in multiple areas. As far as SEO goes, it may not be the best idea. However, I really love Tumblr and I really love Wordpress. I can’t seem to part with either yet I don’t quite have the time for both.
I put out a quick tweet earlier today (and this is why I flippin love Twitter), asking if anyone knew of a good way to connect Wordpress to Twitter. Here are the popular options.
- Use Tumblr’s feed importer (suggested by @abrahamvegh). This option requires you to enter your blog’s RSS feed. Tumblr then scans your RSS feed every so often and pulls the new posts. I didn’t care too much for this approach because it’s not instantaneous. I added my feed and it told me that it would refresh in about an hour. After an hour it still didn’t pull my Wordpress posts and had a status of queued.

- There are quite a few Tumblr Wordpress plugins out there. I have tried a few and have seen no success. Until one of my twitter followers (@TheSilber) suggested that I use tumblrize. Tumblrize is a great plugin that worked perfectly right out of the box. It was easy to set up and boasts quite a few options.”Tumblrize posts to Tumblr whenever you hit the “publish” button. It uses Tumblr’s simple API to keep posts in sync; when you edit your WordPress post, it updates your Tumblr post.”

I would highly recommend option 2 if you are planning on syncing your Wordpress blog with your Tumblr.

Would love to hear about some other interesting solutions. Feel free to post them in the comments.

Obviously the developers over at Posterous haven’t been on Tumblr in a while. The other day, they wrote a harsh blog post (towards Tumblr) aimed at recruiting Tumblr bloggers.
Posterous’ claim to faim is post from email (which they claim that Tumblr doesn’t have) where the user doesn’t require an account. In the graphic below, they claim that Tumblr doesn’t offer this feature.
As you can see from Tumblr’s Goodies page, they clearly offer this functionality by emailing your posts to a generated mobile address. (Check out the Goodies page while logged in to see yours)

I feel like Posterous is hanging on by a thread and trying to take every stab possible at Tumblr. The reality is, no one cares that you can blog without an account. This is a stupid idea and stomps the social aspect of the service. Not to mention their themes are terrible.
Also, comments/moderation are available through disqus on just about every Tumblr blog.
I’m not basing on Posterous for no good reason, I just find it crazy that they would make such a statement about their platform verses Tumblr’s.
A few days ago, I was deciding whether or not to take my blogging to Tumblr or Posterous, and now feel that I have made the best decision.
