Suggestions For A Good iPad Tumblr App?
After browsing the App Store, it appears that all of the Tumblr apps for the iPad are total garbage (no offense if you follow me and have developed one). I wonder why Tumblr hasn’t come out with an official app. Tumbleroo seemed like the least terrible, but it’s 5 bucks and their UI/UX is…meh. Am I missing one. Is there a Tumblr app that you suggest? Seems like gold mine...

Just Found Out Tumblr Supports Markdown
Apparently, in your Tumblr Preferences, you can set the editor to use Markdown. This single-handedly makes me want to switch all blogging to Tumblr. I loved blogging with Jekyll, but I really want to be able to publish blog posts on my mobile devices. Also, free hosting ftw! Now the fun part, the import…

Wish I could do this with XCode. yieldthought: On September 19th, I said goodbye to my trusty MacBook Pro and started developing exclusively on an iPad + Linode 512. This is the surprising story of a month spent working in the cloud. It all started when I bought my first MacBook a couple of years ago. Frustrated by the inconsistent usage of ctrl/alt/option/arrow keys to jump words and screens...

Four months with Android: reflections, grievances...
tl;dr version: I’m really glad to have an iPhone 4S. dinnerwithandroid: OR, The longest, most awkward dinner of my life tl;dr version: I’m really glad to have an iPhone 4S. (Note: this was written over multiple days, spaced weeks apart.) I approached this experiment with a lot of questions, the primary of which was quite simple: why do people use Android? I had my own preconceived answers...

Neven Mrgan's tumbl: Labeling the Back button →
mrgan: Most “deep” apps require some amount of navigation, moving the user deeper into child views and then back out to the parent view. That navigational backtracking is typically done with a “Back” button, positioned in the top-left corner, and denoted by a pointed left side. You’ve all seen it: …

Cocos2D Tutorial - Dynamically Coloring Sprites →
Have you ever seen a game (such as Tiny Tower) that contains similar sprites that only vary by certain attributes (coloring, shading, accessories, etc…)? I would often wonder how long it would take the artists to create each permutation of these sprites. After discovering that you can call a method on a CCSprite called setColor, I realized how most of this customization is done in code. ...

An iOS Developer Takes on Android
nfarina: Recently, we released the Android version of Meridian, our platform for building location-based apps. We didn’t use one of these “Cross Platform!” tools like Titanium. We wrote it, from scratch, in Java, like you do in Android. We decided it was important to keep the native stuff native, and to respect each platform’s conventions as much as possible. Some conventions are easy to...

Using Google+ For App Development And Marketing
sinecureind: When it rains, it pours. For over 2 weeks, Google+ has dominated the tech news spotlight and early adopters have spent countless hours experimenting with it. Some have even tried to launch organizational accounts for their businesses, only to be told by Google to wait a bit. Obviously Google has a plan for such accounts, and they’ll most likely differ from the ordinary social...

Considering Leaving Wordpress For Jekyll

Not suck at security Not be bloated Not have a sucky post editor Expense - I have a few blogs hosted on Rackspace and my bill has gotten pretty pricey.  I’m hoping to host my Jekyll site on App Engine for frizzle...
